David Mata

David Mata is a musician and sound artist born in Spain. Since 2008 under the alias of Erissoma he produced a series of audio works for different labels, documentaries and theater events. Autodidact musician and composer from 9 years old began his interest in music and experimentation of technology applied to the sound. In his inexhaustible interest to create new sound textures using techniques such as manipulating objects and digital synthesis. David Mata focuses on investigating, exploring, and drawing attention to background noise and the sounds wrapping them with tactile material micro-textures and sudden pauses that generate expectations. Through his musical work, David Mata has been recognized as one of the great exponents of ambient - experimental sound in Spain, being invited to show his work in many of the main specialized art festivals of the country and others european capitals (Sonikas18, In_Sonora at Museo Nacional Reina Sofia, Off Herzios, Madatac, Circulo de Bellas Artes, Optica Festival Internacional de Video Arte, Ensems Festival or feria ARCO for example). He also collaborated with musicians, visual and plastic artists such as Ramón Gonzalez Palazón, Sascha Lemon, Alicia Merz, Paola Tognazzi, Carlos Suero, Javier Chozas, Lucas Bolaño, Blanca Regina, Guillermo Gumiel, Anna Stereopoulou, Yianna Delatolla, Aurora Feijoo. Currently focuses his work on the composition of soundtracks for theater and pieces of video art. In 2016 David Mata runs Seattle Dott Recs, a record label specializing in electroacustic and concrete electronic music. Other parallel projects where you can find him are "Dynamic Mode Decomposition" with Elena Juarez and Carlos Suero or specific appearances with Lucas Bolaño.
